I cannot map any resolutions for myself this year except the usual – lose weight, get healthier, become a kinder better version of myself. And that is just the usual tripe.

I think the real challenge and the true resolution coming out of 2020 – that year of hindsight in which so much of the American shadows of racism and economic inequality were highlighted, will be to comfortably and confidently navigate the realm of uncertainty.

I don’t know how many people like me were diving into the inner shadows this past year, but I suspect a significant number. There did not seem like much other recourse. We have new heroes on the front lines of things – the medical professions and those courageous folks who took an honest stand against racial injustice. And again, I realize that talking about these topics seem tripe to those who aren’t on the front lines of anything.

For me, the issue where I take a stand is on Climate Change. I’m not on the front line of anything. I’m 62, aging, taking care of my health the best I can, and my family. I’m still working when I have work. But I can and will put my opinions on the need to tackle Climate Change forward on my blog. And so I will. This is my stand. If I can connect people to ideas that help move the changes we need to make to create a sustainable environment so beings of all kinds can survive on Earth, I will have met my objective.

To meet this goal, I intend to take up again something I started with Brigid Hopkins that I initially called Earth Heart interviews. I intend to write Book Reviews of books that inspired me to adopt sustainable lifestyle practices. And I will keep on plugging away at the need for self-change to meet these times.

So to anyone interested in reading this: Happy New Year! It’s 2021! And the year of hindsight behind us!
